Hello, my name is Miriam Hernandez and I will be telling you about my leisure activity, Religion.
**In the places that say this leisure activity you can fill in the name of your activity
Introduction:
- I picked this leisure activity because i know is one of the things that i like to learn about and i know it is different for many people in many cultures/ neighborhoods.
- How does the neighborhood impact your leisure activity: (THINK: HOW DOES BEING IN NYC ALLOW YOU TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY DIFFERENTLY? IS THERE DIFFERENT NEIGHBORHOODS IN NYC THAT EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY DIFFERENTLY? HOW DO NEIGHBORHOODS EITHER ENCOURAGE OR DISCOURAGE THE ACTIVITY)
- 1) many people in my neighborhood like to show their religion in a similar way that i do.
- 2)people in different places in the Bronx do not always agree with other peoples religion or how they show their beliefs.
- 3) people will still interact with other people that might live in the same neighborhood even if they do not have the same religion.
- I hope the viewer will learn that there are many ways people do it and many different opinions about my leisure activity.
Interviews: Analyze audio from your interviews.
Must use 3 interviews!
- Pick best part of interview
- Best part can include favorite question asked or favorite answer received. (you cannot use the same person for these clips, you must use 3 different people)
- Write down the time of the clips you’d like to use (example: Liz/Samantha from 1:30-1:36)
Clip 1: Time Matthew
- Mathew showed that his beliefs arent really influenced by anyone but is prinarly respected because mosy of his family also believes in that.
Clip 2: Time lexi
Lexi showed that she has a different mindeset than most of her circle because her family believes in something else. She also isnt influenced by anyone.
Lexi showed that she has a different mindeset than most of her circle because her family believes in something else. She also isnt influenced by anyone.
Clip 3: Time Ana
- Ana has been influenced by her family and friends and therfore that is what he belief is based on.
Analyzation:
- What trends do you notice?
I noitced that people who are younger are not easily influenced and they get to choose what theyveant to believe in where as people who are older believe things their parents and friends told them to believe. - Where did you do your interviews? What impact do you think this made?
I did my interveiws all in the library. The impact it had was that age difference made people have different answeres. - What does the data from the interviews mean to you?
It means that my original theory was wrong.
Article (please go back to your blog post to get this information)
- Name of Article:
Researcher: Religion influences behavior — both good and bad

- What does the quote mean to you?
This quoye is contradictal to what my experience with interviewing people and people i know. Example lexi does not believe in heaven or god but she is a striaght A student and she is very nice and good manners. - How does the quote relevant to your study of the impact of neighborhood on leisure? This quote is relevant because people around my nieghboorhood that are aitheiest do not have unethical behavior
- Quote 2: Religion makes people act better, supporters have long maintained. Religion poisons everything, an increasingly vocal—and youthful
- What does the quote mean to you?
This quote Shows that people act based on what they believe in. - How does the quote relevant to your study of the impact of neighborhood on leisure?
This is relevant to my study because Matthew says that he doesnt do certain things because its agaisnt his religion.
Closing:
- What did you learn by doing this study? (explain the link between neighborhood and your leisure activity)
- 1) That religion can sometimes affect peoples but not unethically
- 2) people now a days aren't unfluenced as much as before
- Why is leisure important in life?
- Why is leisure important to you?
Miriam, really intriguing leisure activity you've chosen. It's interesting to think of religion as an activity. A few things: you need to site the web source of your article. Also, the interview clips are not marked clearly with the exact times that they begin and end. This is supposed to help you when you make your animated video and include clips in it.
