Script

Go Animate Script:

Hello, my name is Miriam Hernandez and I will be telling you about my leisure activity, Religion.

**In the places that say this leisure activity you can fill in the name of your activity
Introduction:

  • I picked this leisure activity because i know is one of the things that i like to learn about and i know it is different for many people in many cultures/ neighborhoods.

  • How does the neighborhood impact your leisure activity: (THINK: HOW DOES BEING IN NYC ALLOW YOU TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY DIFFERENTLY? IS THERE DIFFERENT NEIGHBORHOODS IN NYC THAT EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY DIFFERENTLY? HOW DO NEIGHBORHOODS EITHER ENCOURAGE OR DISCOURAGE THE ACTIVITY)
    • 1) many people in my neighborhood like to show their religion in a similar way that i do.
    • 2)people in different places in the Bronx do not always agree with other peoples religion or how they show their beliefs.
    • 3) people will still interact with other people that might live in the same neighborhood even if they do not have the same religion.

  • I hope the viewer will learn  that there are many ways people do it and many different opinions about my leisure activity.

Interviews: Analyze audio from your interviews.

Must use 3 interviews!
  • Pick best part of interview
  • Best part can include favorite question asked or favorite answer received. (you cannot use the same person for these clips, you must use 3 different people)
    • Write down the time of the clips you’d like to use (example: Liz/Samantha from 1:30-1:36)

Clip 1: Time Matthew
  • Mathew showed that his beliefs arent really influenced by anyone but is prinarly respected because mosy of his family also believes in that.

Clip 2: Time lexi
Lexi showed that she has a different mindeset than most of her circle because her family believes in something else. She also isnt influenced by anyone.
Clip 3: Time Ana
  • Ana has been influenced by her family and friends and therfore that is what he belief is based on.

Analyzation:
  • What trends do you notice?
I noitced that people who are younger are not easily influenced and they get to choose what theyveant to believe in where as people who are older believe things their parents and friends told them to believe.
  • Where did you do your interviews? What impact do you think this made?
I did my interveiws all in the library. The impact it had was that age difference made people have different answeres.
  • What does the data from the interviews mean to you?
It means that my original theory was wrong.

Article (please go back to your blog post to get this information)
  • Name of Article:

Researcher: Religion influences behavior — both good and bad

  • Author: Matt Cooper
  • Date of Article: July 14, 2013
  • Site:

  • Quote 1: but it’s possible that people who don’t believe in the possibility of punishment in the afterlife feel like they can get away with unethical behavior. There is less of a divine deterrent, and perhaps even a bit of a divine license.”
    • What does the quote mean to you?
This quoye is contradictal to what my experience with interviewing people and people i know. Example lexi does not believe in heaven or god but she is a striaght A student and she is very nice and good manners.
    • How does the quote relevant to your study of the impact of neighborhood on leisure? This quote is relevant because people around my nieghboorhood that are aitheiest do not have unethical behavior

  • Quote 2: Religion makes people act better, supporters have long maintained. Religion poisons everything, an increasingly vocal—and youthful
    • What does the quote mean to you?
This quote Shows that people act based on what they believe in.
    • How does the quote relevant to your study of the impact of neighborhood on leisure?
This is relevant to my study because Matthew says that he doesnt do certain things because its agaisnt his religion.

      Closing:

  • What did you learn by doing this study? (explain the link between neighborhood and your leisure activity)
    • 1) That religion can sometimes affect peoples but not unethically
    • 2) people now a days aren't unfluenced as much as before
  • Why is leisure important in life?
  • Why is leisure important to you?

Neighborhood

My Guiding Questions: Leisure & Neighborhood 1.)What are the main words the capture what you’re interested in? Make sure something about neighborhood/place is there! Stay broad but not too broad! Ex: Neighborhood, skateboarding, skaters, video games, place, inside, outside….. wattpad, facebook, parks 2.)Write Overarching Question What is the main question you are investigating in this lab session? How does neighborhood shape ______(your activity here)_________in NYC? how does my neighborhood shape equality in NYC? 3.)Write Subquestions What more specific, but still broad sub-questions would you like to find out the answer to? Include some word that has to do with place in each. Ex: Where in New York City do people ____________? Who _____________ depending on neighborhood? What differences in _____________________ are there between different neighborhoods? What trends in ____________________ are there across neighborhoods? where in New York City do people live the most? what differences in culture are between different neighborhoods? what trends in races are there across neighborhoods?

leisure

when I'm at home on the weekends i like to do a lot of things that require to be indoors. i like to watch a lot of Netflix.i like to see my favorite show(Supernatural)and see many movies. this is the one activity with the highest percentage because its a good way for me to distract myself and i like to watch different movies to learn new things especially in documentaries. My second highest one is Facebook. i use this a lot to communicate with my friends and far family members. Then I have KiK. this is more for my school friends. i text them during the weekends a lot to see how they are doing and if they have done their homework. I like to use Wattpad to read. I like reading new ideas that my friends create or other people my age. lastly i have Instagram. I use Instagram to see my family's pictures and post pictures of myself (when i look good. this helps me understand the mea ing of leisure because i know that there are multiple things people do on their free time.

social media good vs. bad

Is social media a good or evil thing?

social media is part of everyone life. there are positives and negatives to it. some of the positives is that it is a great way to communicate with other people. there are famous websites in which you can do this. one way you can do this is by Facebook and Twitter and also Watts-app. another thing you can do in social media is that is beneficial is that you can make new friends with them. Things such as Facebook is a very good way to make friends. you can find people that have things in common with you and you can actually have a friend if you don't have any in person.

There are also certain things that are negative and harmful for people. some of these negative things are cyber-bulling, people exposure and distraction. for example many people are more aware of their messages and how many likes they get on their picture rather than seeing whats going on in the outside world. there has been cases of people getting bullied in the internet. many kids get death threats and rude comment on pictures that can end up having a very bad result such as someone killing themselves. Also theres many people (mostly girls) that get exposed on the internet. there are pictures posted or videos that can ruin someones reputation.

There are many negatives and positives to social media depending on how much you use it.
